Paris and the tower Eiffel

                                                Arc de "under construction".
How the Arc looked at one time.
                                    How it looks now.
The obelisk  and some other winged angel
                                            This one is obvious.
                                    My attempt at a selfie.

Paris continued.  Same day, lots of walking.  I figured I could pick up the metro the closer I got to the Eiffel Tower.  While I was there, I would look for the dock where I had a reservation for dinner in a couple of nights.

Following the sightline of the tower, I zagged in and out of traffic, construction, and crowds.  Using my phone for navigation was key to get to a lot of the places I needed to find, especially using the Bonjour Rapt app to find what bus or train to take back to the hotel.  However, it was not always easy.  When the GPS said to turn right, well, that is not what the little dot told me on the screen.  All the fighting with the GPS just wore my little phone battery down to weeping blob.  Soon, it just gave up—black screen.

I still have the Eiffel tower in my view and found the Ducasse Sur Seine boat at the dock (for my 7:30 dinner on Tuesday night).  Even this far from the Eiffel tower, the place was busy with hucksters.  I stopped to watch for a while---at a distance, of course.  I didn’t see anything unusual, so I jumped on a bus to the Trocadero (App suggestion), which is the opposite direction of where I thought I wanted to go.  The only thing to do was to stop, have dinner, and a glass of wine. Oh, and charge my phone for the rest of the story to get back home.  (By the way, the GPS was pretty good because I got a direct train to my hotel metro stop).  Relief, I am home, sorta dry, but still with wet feet.

That is all I have for today.  I will leave you with pictures of the Arc de Triumph (under construction), the Luxor Obelisk, Fame riding Pegasus (both with stadium seating for the Olympics), and the bakery with the Cochons (Piggies).
