OMG, when will this cough get better?
OMG, when will this cough get better?
Julie is my buddy. What that means is, as a group of fourteen, we are to choose one person to keep track of and it can’t be anyone who you are traveling with. When the guide asks if everyone is there, you need to have eye contact with your “buddy”.
Rich, our guide, told us about one teenager who thought the buddy system was stupid. She chose not to have a buddy and at one stop she was running after the bus who was ready to leave her. After that, Rich was her buddy.
Back to Julie…Julie and I were talking on our last day about the symptoms I had making it difficult to get a restful sleep. She said she had similar symptoms, and it was a sinus infection. She assured me I could get antibiotics without a prescription from the pharmacy.
The next day (on Sunday, I still had one day in Seville), I set out to visit the nearby pharmacy. I was told that I needed a prescription, so I looked up clinics near me. I hoofed it about .3 miles to a doctor’s office and found it was a cardiologist’s office. Checking Google Maps again, another doctor was .2 miles but again, that was a dentist. Okay, I looked up emergency clinics. Great there was one .5 miles away. Away, I hoofed. This looked promising, it was open for one thing. At the counter, using Google Translator, I told the receptionist, I needed to see a doctor for a sinus infection. Using the sign language of waving arms and appearing to say, “Go out and down the street, turn right and there is a doctor”, I thought it was promising.
Off I went down the street and turned right, and there seemed to be offices which seemed more promising. When I checked the doors, I figured receptionist thought I needed some other form of help.
I decided that the psychologist would be a good idea but not today.
I kept walking and saw another pharmacy. I tried again to get antibiotics without a prescription but got the same answer. This time, I was smart enough to have the clerk talk into Google Translator. Great, the hospital was farrrrr away. I was too tired to walk even farther from the hotel, so I chose to forget the errand and go back to the hotel. I will try again once I get into Boston.
To top it off, it was Sunday and I never ran into any open shops to spend more money.
Next stop Boston.
